Frequently Asked Questions
Where can I download Mutual?
Mutual is currently available in the App Store. We're currently developing and testing an Android version, and plan on having it out in the Spring of 2017!
How does Mutual work?
After setting up a profile, you can view other LDS singles and swipe up to show that you’re interested. When two people express mutual interest and create a connection, they can chat, get to know each other, and hopefully meet up for a date!
Why do I have to login through Facebook to use Mutual?
We currently require users to have a Facebook account because it adds an additional level of security and protection in several ways: It keeps people more genuine, makes it harder for malicious users to create fake profiles, keeps out inappropriate photos, and allows you to see when you have friends in common.
Why can’t I upload photos from my phone?
Only allowing photo uploads from Facebook and Instagram helps keep Mutual spam-free and clean from unwanted content. Both utilize people and technology to remove content that no one wants to see, which is great for helping us keep the good in and the bad out.
Why haven’t I matched with anyone yet?
When you first sign up, no one will see your profile until we review it and give it a thumbs up. This usually takes less than a day. After that, it’s just a numbers game. The more active you are and the more people you like, the sooner you will show up to other people who are looking. Still having a hard time? Try playing around with your pictures and profile information.
What if I swiped the wrong way and accidentally passed someone I really like?
Not to worry! Currently you’ll have to swipe through everyone else in your area to see that person again. When you run out of new people to match with, you’ll be given the option to “Reload Passed Profiles”, which will allow you to revisit anyone you swiped down on. We’re working on a feature that will make it easier to go back to someone you accidentally passed.
What are the rules?
Pretty simple, don’t do anything stupid. For more details, see our Terms of Service.
Why do I have to say where I live?
People interested in you want to know how far away you live. You are required to answer the ‘Lives In’ question, but it doesn’t matter what you write.
How can I decide who I see?
Just go to Settings by clicking on the gear icon, and adjust the age and distance parameters to whatever you’re looking for.
Why do I have to be 18 to use Mutual? I’m 16, I can date!
You’re absolutely right. We plan on allowing 16 and up to use Mutual, but you will only be able to match with others who are under 18.
How can I see my profile?
Go to Settings by tapping on the icon in the top left corner of the screen, and tap on ‘My Profile’.
How can I edit my profile?
Go to Settings by tapping on the icon in the top left corner of the screen, and tap on ‘My Profile’. Then, tap on 'Edit Profile' in the top right corner.
How can I report someone?
Any time you’re looking at a profile, you can tap on the screen to see more info, scroll to the bottom, and tap on the ‘Report This User’ button. If you want to report someone you’ve already matched with, open up a chat with that user and tap on the ‘...’ button in the top right corner of the screen. Tap on the red ‘Report’ button, and tell us what they did wrong!
How can I delete my profile?
To delete your profile, simply go to Settings, scroll to the bottom, and choose ‘Delete My Account’.
